Below are some of the common questions we get from our Renaissance Academy families. If you have any other questions, please email us.

Yes, once the student is approved for the Affordable Childcare Benefit, we will be able to help families process the claims accordingly.

Our facility is approved under the Provincial Parent Fee Reduction Initiative. This reduction is currently applicable to Renaissance Explorers, Discoverers, Illuminators, and Virtuosos students only. Preschool is not part of the Parent Fee Reduction Initiative.

Every child’s potty-training journey looks different, and at Renaissance Kids we work with children and their families to have a positive experience learning to use the toilet. We strongly recommend that children who are entering our 3-5 program have a solid foundation of potty training, and are actively working towards being out of diapers.

Yes, we do. Before care hours are from 7:30 am to 8:45 am. After care hours are from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

We offer a gradual entry system to provide children with a smoother transition for the first 2-3 weeks. We will begin by having your child join the classroom for 2-3 hrs on their first few days of school. Attending for a short period of time and gradually increasing to a full day towards the end of the month will allow the teachers to work more closely with the student to build rapport and a positive relationship. This process is adjusted according to the child’s needs and best interests.

Yes, our school offers a nutrition program that not only encompasses a lunch, but also a morning snack and afternoon snack. The food is prepared by in-house chefs so your child can experience culturally diverse, healthy and nutritious meals daily.

Our school is a nut-free environment. Any children with allergies other than nuts will have to bring their own lunches, as we cannot guarantee an allergen-free kitchen using the same tools and cooking instruments. We are unable to make substitutions for any food intolerances, sensitivities or religious/personal preferences at the moment.

For our infant and toddler group (under 3 years old), the ratio is 1 teacher to 4 students.
For our junior kindergarten age group (over 3 years old), the ratio is 1 to 8.
We do strive to provide the best possible care to our families. This is why the ratio listed is the minimal ratio that is governed by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, but we always have extra Early Childhood Educators and specialist teachers in addition to the minimum required ratio, all of whom are licensed Responsible Adult (RA), Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA), or Early Childhood Educator (ECE).

Yes, children are required to wear a full uniform every day of the year, with appropriate seasonal gear.

Student movement depends on the suitability and availability of space. Once your child’s teacher notices that they are growing out of their current classroom, families will be contacted to discuss how to further support the student’s learning.
